Garmin has developed its well-known inReach series further and, with the inReach Mini 3 Plus, has brought out a new compact device for satellite communication.
With the Garmin inReach Mini 3 Plus you have a reliable way to communicate even in remote regions without mobile phone reception. Whether to exchange messages with the family at home or for an emergency. The new device has a considerably expanded range of functions compared with its predecessor, the proven Garmin inReach Mini 2.
The Garmin inReach Mini 3 Plus comes with an expanded range of functions
Besides the familiar functions such as the SOS function, sending and receiving text messages, live tracking and receiving weather data, the Garmin inReach Mini 3 Plus offers a number of other options and features that expand the range of functions. The Garmin inReach Mini 3 Plus comes with a colour touchscreen and the additional option of operation via voice control. A good addition for everyone who needs to keep their hands free. On top of that, the device’s integrated microphone lets you send voice messages of up to 30 seconds in length and of course read transcribed voice messages too. This can make communication with rescue services easier.
Another new option is sharing photos. Pairing with a smartphone or tablet, for example for more convenient operation, is still possible, and the navigation functions have been expanded too. The device is also multi-band capable and has a higher transmission power, which under the right conditions can improve position finding as well as the sending and receiving of messages. For emergencies the device also has a built-in alarm to draw attention to itself acoustically.
The device’s lithium-ion battery is said to last up to 14 days when tracking at a 10-minute interval. That can drop considerably with a restricted view of the sky. As already familiar from the inReach Mini 2, there’s a fair amount of useful accessories for the device, for example protective cases, mounts and connection cables.
