Apollo Tyres is launching its first explicitly off-road-capable tyre: the Vredestein Pinza. The Pinza off-road tyre is the result of a five-year global research and development programme. Vredestein’s most capable off-road tyre to date offers strong figures for grip, traction and rolling resistance, along with improved handling. According to the maker, this gives the tyre the best balance between on-road and off-road properties of any off-road tyre on the market.
Pinza off-road tyre available in 24 sizes
The Pinza is particularly well suited to off-roaders, pick-ups and SUVs used off the beaten track. It is available in 24 sizes, with more to follow. The Pinza’s tread is marked by a distinctive herringbone pattern with four grooves and continuous interlocking sipes, which give excellent grip on all surfaces – including mud, sand, ice and snow – while also minimising road noise. A sturdy, three-part shoulder with aggressive gripping edges provides better grip on loose ground. Winding stone ejectors have also been built into the tread to help clear debris more easily.

The new Pinza has a three-layer Triplex carcass to increase its lifespan, and the distinctive sidewall design extends the aggressive tread pattern, giving a tyre in this category a suitably rugged look and offering better protection against rocks and ruts.
Besides its strong off-road properties, the Pinza also shows a high level of grip and improved handling on the road. The multi-pitch technology and the wide tread blocks help to minimise noise and maximise steering precision. The use of a fifth-generation polymer compound and the deep sipes also provide excellent grip in all conditions.
Also usable as a winter tyre
The Pinza carries the 3PMSF certificate (commonly known as the „snowflake“), which underlines its all-weather capability and sets it apart from many other off-road tyres. This means it offers high standards of grip and traction on snow and icy surfaces.
The new off-road tyre was designed and developed by Apollo Tyres’ in-house research and development department in the Netherlands. Extensive analysis of simulations and real-world testing was carried out to achieve the ideal balance between the performance characteristics. As part of a product-specific research and development project, the most ambitious in the brand’s 113-year history, the Vredestein Pinza was tested on road and off in North America, Finland, South Africa and the Middle East under the most demanding weather conditions.

Two construction types for different uses
The tyre was introduced in the USA in 2021 and quickly established itself as one of the best-rated products in the competitive off-road tyre segment. It is one of only four off-road tyres recommended by the respected independent testing agency Consumer Reports. The Pinza is offered in two construction types: “P” and “LT”. The more aggressive “LT” tread suits work vehicles used mainly on tougher terrain. The “P” variant has a more road-friendly design and is therefore ideal for passenger vehicles. Both versions are highly capable off-road and give drivers a secure feeling on all surfaces all year round.
