Advertisement: The metal at the differential of the Land Rover Defender is thin, front and rear. If you hit a rock or a fallen trunk awkwardly off-road, the trip is over for now. That’s exactly why a rugged guard like the one from GMB-Mount makes real sense for your Defender. The guard sits firmly, absorbs blows and prevents a hit ruining your tour.
Usually the covers of the differentials, on the Land Rover Defender too, are only meant to keep the oil in and the dirt out. They’re not suited to unwanted contact with unyielding rocks or tree trunks. If there’s an impact off-road, in the best case only the cover bends. True, the differential is then usually blocked too, which is bad enough, but you can still manage that. In the worst case the whole thing ends with a hole in the metal. Then not only does the oil run out, but a “field repair” gets difficult.
Prevention helps, fit a differential guard
The wise person prevents. That’s why the GMB-Mount differential guard is the right choice for your Land Rover Defender. It consists of just a few parts and is quickly fitted to the vehicle. You need no special tools and no elaborate preparation for it. If you later ground out on the lowest point of the vehicle, the differential, the GMB-Mount differential guard catches the hit. That prevents damage to the differential and saves you trouble off-road.
The guard is made of 6 mm thick aluminium and reinforced to 12 mm in the most heavily stressed area. The steel ring is galvanically zinc-plated so it stays permanently rust-free.
The guard fits all Land Rover Defender 90, 110 and 130 Tdi, Td5 and Td4 on the front axle. On the Defender 90 you can also fit it on the rear axle.

Why not protect all the way round!
There are matching solutions for other rear axles too, for example for the Range Rover P38 or the Defender 110 from model year 2003. That keeps your Landy protected at the rear axle when manoeuvring off-road too. The rear guard is likewise made of 6 mm thick aluminium plate and fixed with two steel retaining rings. You don’t have to weld anything or cut any threads. Here you get to all the variants, for front and rear axles: GMB Mount differential guard.

GMB, quality and design
GMB is among the surely few manufacturers of accessory parts for off-road and travel vehicles that are certified as a parts manufacturer with the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). That alone shows that the quality is right here. For many years the metalworking firm has offered well-thought-out and rugged accessories for various vehicle models, like the Mercedes G, the VW bus and the Land Rover Defender. The well-known folding jerrycan holders are just one more example.
The material GMB mostly uses is stainless steel or aluminium, which ensures long durability. Before a purchase it’s worth taking a look in the GMB shop in any case. The shop is clearly laid out, you navigate quickly through the range and see straight away whether what you’re looking for is available and where to find it. To the shop: GMB Mount.
