Converting the MAN F2000 to LED Headlights

For years now, Scheinwerfer LUXX has offered LED headlight conversion kits for all sorts of trucks and lighter vehicles. Now the MAN F2000 (and L2000) can be converted too. You get the choice between two generations of Nolden LED headlights, the AVEGO and the AVEGO Edge.

Fire brigades, water rescue and technical relief crews already run Scheinwerfer LUXX LED conversion kits at plenty of stations across Germany, above all on the Mercedes-Benz Unimog. The mid and heavy Mercedes range (1017, 1117, 914, 917, 1222, 1224 and others), the Mercedes-Benz Vario and a few IVECO models are in the line-up as well. From now on, the front headlights from Nolden Cars&Concepts in Cologne, together with the conversion kit, are available for the MAN L2000 and F2000 too.

Better light, especially on the road, for the MAN L2000 and F2000

Because the dimensions and the mounting system are the same, you can choose between the 3rd generation Nolden AVEGO headlight and the 4th generation AVEGO Edge, where the low beam puts out 4% and the high beam 22% more power. The light is more even, and the low beam is wider too. The headlights are waterproof to IP6K9K, and so is the optional beam levelling.

Whichever generation you go for, the light is clearly better than anything the old H4 headlights give you.

The light functions of the AVEGO headlights

Each conversion kit comes with two low-beam and two high-beam headlights. The low-beam units also carry the daytime running light and position light function. The high-beam headlight, depending on the generation, has either just the high beam or, on the 3rd generation, the position light and indicator as well. On the AVEGO Edge (4th generation) the high beam always includes the position and indicator light. The 4th generation also has matching rear lights in the same design, so you can fit one clean, modern lighting look all the way around the vehicle.

As standard, the kit for the MAN F2000 comes with the indicator function switched off, because this model already has its indicator set into the bumper, and four front indicators aren’t allowed. If you deactivate the outer original indicator and remove and cover the yellow indicator lens, you can order the kit with the indicator switched on as an option.

Everything else is in the kit: brackets, bolts, a wiring harness with the right round bayonet connector, and a full fitting guide. The parts are made from RAL 9005 black-coated stainless steel. If you know your way around a spanner, you can fit the set yourself in about two to three hours. For the wiring, you basically just plug the connections together.

Nolden, proven OEM quality

Unlike makers for the consumer market, Nolden produces for the vehicle industry as a Tier 1 supplier, above all for vehicles that face tough conditions. Public transport operators in several big cities, Cologne, Düsseldorf and Munich among them, have switched their rail vehicles to Nolden LED headlights to cut light-related failures to zero. So these headlights don’t need to chase ever higher lumen figures that only shorten their life.

Nolden doesn’t cut corners on the housings or the lens either. The first Nolden main headlights that reached the wider market, the well-known 7-inch headlights, still show no weakness even after 16 years. Not on the lens, not on the housing. Strong polycarbonate and a solid UV-protective coating stop the lens from yellowing, a problem aftermarket headlights in particular tend to have. The double-protected die-cast aluminium housings show no corrosion either, the kind you often see on headlights from countries where salt on winter roads is unknown.
