ARCTA Viator 2.0 and Viator Pro 2.0

Advertisement: When manufacturers claim their roof tent is “newly revised”, that often means: new colour, same content. With the ARCTA Viator 2.0 and Viator Pro 2.0 it’s different. Here there’s real feedback from practice in it, from ARCTA itself, but also from everyone who already calls the first version of the roof tent their own. What we find really exciting about the ARCTA Viator 2.0, you’ll learn in this article.

Neither model is a newcomer to the scene. The Viator has proven itself as a reliable folding roof tent for everyday life, weekend trips and wanderlust. The Viator Pro is its big brother, made for more comfort, longer tours and harder conditions. Both tents come in several sizes, so that everything fits from the compact car to the full-grown pick-up.

Folding roof tent Viator 2.0, a proven concept, cleverly thought further

The ARCTA Viator 2.0 remains the uncomplicated all-round tent for everyone who wants to travel light without doing without comfort. Set-up in under five minutes, panoramic view in no time. Bright tent fabric, so it stays bright and cosy even in the rain. The principle of the tent has stayed the same, but the details were thoroughly reworked.

The new rainfly is now fitted with a zip system so you can attach a tarp directly to it. Super practical for everyone who doesn’t fancy an awning but, in warm areas, needs a bit of rain protection and above all sun protection, while still wanting to enjoy the outdoor feeling.

The cover of the Viator 2.0 is also completely redesigned. Instead of the familiar, somewhat stubborn PVC truck tarpaulin, ARCTA now relies on a rugged nylon cover with PVC layers. The clincher: it rolls up easily and is fixed with hook-and-loop tabs. No cover lying around or hanging somewhere, taking up space and collecting rain. The way to the vehicle door is always clear, because you can simply roll the cover up.

The new features continue in detail:

  • New shoe and side pockets with a mesh bottom for better ventilation.
  • A storage net under the tent with an intermediate floor for even more order.
  • A utility strip with loops to attach carabiners, lamps or organisers.
  • Reinforced seams, new zips with loops for better handling.
  • An extended LED strip provides more even light in the interior.
  • Two new phone pockets that can be attached to the base poles with hook-and-loop and moved.
  • And even a fabric mattress protector at the joints.

At the entrance there’s also a new tensioning pole that keeps the rainfly taut and prevents water from collecting. A small detail that’s worth its weight in gold in practice.

Stayed the same, because already very good:

  • height-adjustable, black telescopic aluminium ladder (up to 2.30 m long)
  • hook-and-loop-sealed power cable access points for a cable connection from the car
  • ropes and pegs (for guying)
  • 6 cm high-density mattress with a washable cover
  • 3D mesh underlay for the mattress

Viator Pro 2.0, more comfort, more function, more darkness

The ARCTA Viator Pro 2.0 is the rugged variant for everyone who’s out for longer or wants to be able to rely on their roof tent even in the foulest wind and weather. The ARCTA Viator Pro comes in three sizes: 140, 160 and 190 cm.

The 7 cm mattress provides proper sleeping comfort, while the blackout coating completely darkens the interior. Anyone who’s ever tried to sleep in the light at night in a Scandinavian summer knows how important that is. Added to that are larger ventilation openings that can now also be fully closed, for pitch-dark nights. In addition, the Viator Pro has an optimised rainfly with an extra window.

Also new is the folding U-bracket, which simply stays on the tent when folding up. No taking out, no fiddling. An elastic band keeps poles and fabric neatly in place, the tent folds in stably and evenly, without chaos.

Materials of the ARCTA Viator Pro 2.0

  • 280 gsm ripstop poly-canvas with a 3000 mm water column
  • Rainfly of 600D polyester canvas with a diamond structure
  • Poles and fittings of aluminium and stainless steel
  • reinforced nylon cover

Despite the rugged build, the Pro stays light enough for most vehicles:

  • 140 cm variant: 56 kg
  • 160 cm variant: 62 kg
  • 190 cm variant: 71 kg

Wind-stable up to 50 km/h, set up in under five minutes and designed for all four seasons, all the Viator 2.0 roof tents are made for long-distance travel, off-road tours and people who’d rather sleep in nature than just look at it.

With the new Viator models, ARCTA has shown that they listen. The many small, practical improvements don’t come from the marketing department, but directly from the community and their own practice. And that’s exactly what you feel: these tents aren’t made to look good in the catalogue, but to work outdoors.
