Days on Tracks RAHLA Tire Rack Mini

Anyone out in a 4×4 is always looking for clever ways to carry gear. The DOT (Days on Tracks) RAHLA Tire Rack Mini uses the space above the spare wheel, as long as it’s mounted upright on the vehicle.

No, the Days on Tracks rack isn’t a carrier for the spare wheel, but a carrier that straps onto the spare wheel. Gear can then be strapped down and carried on its platform. That’s especially handy for things that get dirty in use, recovery gear being the obvious one. On the spare wheel at the back it’s quickly to hand, and after use the interior is spared wet or muddy straps, soft shackles, gloves and the like.

A universal carrier

Of course the use isn’t limited to recovery gear. Anything that fits on the 60 x 32 centimetre surface can go there. It should be weatherproof itself, or at least packed that way. Think smaller cans (the well-known WM can sadly doesn’t fit), transport boxes, firewood or sacks.

The slots allow adjustment and let water drain.

Quick and simple to use

Fitting and using it couldn’t be simpler and needs no tools. The Days on Track RAHLA Tire Rack Mini fits the usual off-road tyres. The two side supports can be slid lengthways in the platform, so the RAHLA Tire Rack Mini adjusts to different tyre diameters.

It simply straps on top of the spare wheel with its own strap. A ratchet strap for gear is also included, so you can use the carrier straight away. Its 17.5 cm high side walls have slots through which you can run three straps at once.

By the way, the visible front can be chosen in black, white, green, yellow or neon orange.

Clever details

As simple as this carrier may look, it has some clever details. The floor of the platform is slotted, so no water can collect. The floor also has airline-rail hole profiles, which you can use for the usual tie-down eyes, screws or strap ends. There are holes in the raised corners through which hooks or screws can pass. That lets you add more eyes and so on.

The support beneath the platform has these airline-rail hole profiles too. That’s great for hanging shackles or towels and so on in camp.
