Dachträger für den New Defender

Roof rack for the New Defender

Despite all the initial doubts, the New Defender is now a firm fixture in the off-road travel and overlander scene. So it was only a matter of time before demand arose for a roof rack for the vehicle. The well-known outfitter Nakatanenga 4×4-Equipment from the Upper Palatinate now has a roof rack for the New Defender in its range.

The CargoBear roof rack from Nakatanenga is no stranger in itself and has been available for a while for the Land Rover Defender, Discovery 3 and 4 as well as the Mercedes G-Class. And now the roof rack popular with many travellers is coming for the New Defender.

The CargoBear roof rack for the New Defender L663 has a modular design and consists of three cross bars, two platform modules and a front and an end module.

At 2.41 m, this roof rack is very long and, moreover, fully load-bearing over its entire length and width. With a width of 1.20 m, this roof rack for the New Defender 110 gives you a walk-on roof area of around three square metres. Its own weight is around 50 kilograms. The front element is suitable for fitting auxiliary lighting.

No drilling required for fitting

The CargoBear is fitted to the factory mounting points for the roof rails, which must be removed for this beforehand. The roof rack for the New Defender can therefore also be removed again without damage.

A special highlight – you can fit this roof rack at two different heights. This is a good solution if you have a glass roof in your New Defender, because at a height of 100 mm it is still fully usable. If, on the other hand, you value keeping the vehicle height as low as possible, you can fit the CargoBear at 80 mm above the roof.

Nakatanenga recommends driving no faster than 160 km/h with the roof rack unladen and no faster than 130 km/h when loaded, and to observe the manufacturer’s specifications and the vehicle’s configuration for the load. Please also remember to take the roof rack’s own weight into account when loading.

The Nakatanenga roof rack for the New Defender is Made in Germany

Nakatanenga placed great importance on aerodynamics during development, so that the roof rack causes barely audible wind noise. There are appropriate cut-outs for the antenna and reversing camera, so that the vehicle functions are unaffected. The platform is made of black (RAL9005) powder-coated aluminium; the cross bars are made of stainless steel and also black powder-coated.

The roof rack blends well into the vehicle’s design, is currently available for the New Defender 110 and is due to be available shortly for the 90 as well.
