Advertisement: If you travel in a pickup or 4×4 truck, you know the dilemma: a low overall height for off-road ability, or more standing height for comfort? At andersCamper there is a solution that can do both, the huckeVERSUM, an innovative inflatable pop-top roof. Yes, you read that right: inflatable. With the pop-top roof you can extend the height of your cabin to up to 2.50 metres.
huckeVERSUM: drive small, live large
The huckeVERSUM from andersCamper is a real space miracle. On the move the roof stays flat, which keeps the cabin compact, streamlined and off-road capable. But as soon as you arrive, it transforms at the push of a button into a towering camper, in just one minute. This is made possible by compressed-air technology with drop-stitch material, similar to the material you know from SUP boards. The material is light and strong, and because it is double-walled, it also insulates superbly.

Why an inflatable pop-top roof?
- Standing height of over 2 metres, no stooping, no cramped space
- Compact height on the road, ideal for off-road driving and low clearances
- Light & strong, less weight but a high load capacity on the roof
- Thermal & acoustic insulation, keeps you warm in the cold, cool in the heat
- Roof window & panoramic view, light and air at the push of a button
- A walk-on roof surface even when raised, ideal for solar panels, luggage or even a roof terrace
Advantages of an inflatable pop-top roof over a pop-top with tent fabric
Many classic pop-top roofs use a tent canvas on the side, which brings a few drawbacks. In strong wind the canvas starts to flap, the whole cabin shakes and the noise can be disturbing. A tent canvas also acts as a cold bridge, because it offers hardly any insulation against heat or cold. Rain on the thin canvas can be especially loud, which affects sleep and wellbeing. Another problem is moisture getting in. Strong wind or persistent rain can let damp reach the inside.
The huckeVERSUM tackles exactly this. The drop-stitch material gives a stable, rigid construction that neither flaps nor shakes. The double wall and the air filling create effective insulation against heat, cold and noise, which makes the huckeVERSUM the perfect solution in the desert as well as in icy regions. The construction is 100 percent waterproof and stands up to even heavy rain or snow loads. The double-walled design uses air as a natural insulator, which allows for optimal insulation. So it is the best possible pop-top roof for people who love camping even in extreme weather. You can also realise layouts in which the cabin stays usable even with the roof closed, which is a big advantage for discreet camping in particular.
The huckeVERSUM can do more
Beyond weatherproofing and comfort, the inflatable huckeVERSUM pop-top roof offers numerous advantages that make it especially interesting for long-term travellers and adventurers. The construction is so strong that roof loads of several hundred kilograms can be carried with ease. That lets you mount photovoltaic panels, a roof terrace or a luggage rack safely. Windows can be fitted into the bellows itself, which provide more light and better ventilation of the interior.
The system is quick and uncomplicated, because no elaborate mechanism or crank device is needed. At the push of a button the roof is inflated and ready to use in no time. The air pump needed is fitted to save space and, of course, supplied. The roof can even be pumped up by hand without much effort, which then takes about 3 minutes instead of one.
Maximum flexibility: easily retrofit the huckeVERSUM to your vehicle
The huckeVERSUM is fitted in the bespoke campers from andersCAMPER , and it can also be retrofitted to other vehicles or cabins. Whether van, pickup, truck or caravan, the system can be adapted and brings more space and comfort to any vehicle.

andersCAMPER: vision and heart’s blood through to proven practice
Boris Anders is the person behind the idea of the huckeVERSUM, and he lives what he builds. As a child he was already out with a tent and a Ford Capri, later with self-built caravans of wood and epoxy. Travel was never simply a holiday, but always a way of life: minimalism, freedom, closeness to nature.
This passion still drives him today. As a product designer, mechanical engineer and motor-trade professional, he rethinks mobility, always with an eye for detail and the urge not just to dream but to put visions thoroughly to the test. For that he built a dedicated test rig in which the inflatable pop-top roof was raised and lowered several thousand times. The result? Stable, reliable, ready for any adventure.
andersCAMPER GmbH does not just build vehicles. It puts dreams and ideas on wheels, tough, well thought out and with a dedication you feel on every trip. From the ground to up under the sky.
