TREKFINDER Synthetic Winch Rope Made of DYNEEMA

Advertisement: For competition and travel, or also for some clean off-road fun in the off-road park, a winch is, for many, as essential to a 4×4 as salt is to soup. Synthetic ropes enjoy great popularity here. They’re safe, light and offer more length on the drum than a comparable steel cable. TREKFINDER offers synthetic winch ropes of high quality and with a certificate.

A winch is very practical. It pulls yourself or others out of a tricky spot. Often it’s what makes getting over an obstacle possible in the first place. That’s why it’s frequently the first thing retrofitted on a 4×4.

We know that fitting new things to the off-roader is definitely fun. But for all the fun: with winches, safety comes first, of course! Not to mention that sometimes great value hangs on a single rope. In the truest sense of the word. So you shouldn’t skimp on recovery gear. That starts with choosing a sensible winch and a matching winch bumper and ends with the straps the winch rope is hooked into. In between lie the winch rope, the shackles and, where applicable, secure anchor points on the vehicle. As you can see, that’s quite a lot. The whole rope run is only as strong as its weakest link.

Choosing the winch rope is therefore one of those things that want careful thought. Winches usually come with a rope already. If it’s made of synthetic material, you should replace it after one to two years. If it’s used frequently or already damaged, you should replace it sooner or straight away.

For the replacement you then need a suitable rope. TREKFINDER has been active in the field of recovery gear for many years. The ropes used come from well-known manufacturers and are made in Germany. The material is developed for real-world use, with a focus on reliability and durability.

DYNEEMA winch rope for winches up to 6 t pulling force

The brand manufacturer Liros makes this DYNEEMA winch rope for Trekfinder. The rope, with a diameter of 12 mm, has a breaking load of 13 tonnes and is marked to DIN EN 14492-1:2006. That means the safety factor, as usual for ground pull, is 2. That makes it suitable for winches with up to 6 tonnes of pulling force, usually quoted as 5.4 tonnes.

At the end of the rope sits a tube thimble that you can use directly or into which you can hook a winch hook. Behind it follows a 1.5 metre long protective sleeve. When wound up, this area usually sits right on the outside and runs through the fairlead. That’s exactly where the rope is permanently exposed to sun and weather. The sleeve protects the top layer and the rope layers beneath it from UV radiation and external influences.
