Yakima 26 Litre Roadshower

A warm shower or a quick clean of gear when you’re out in a closed off-roader, van or pick-up. That usually ends in wild improvisation. Or you go straight for the Yakima Roadshower. It brings warm water onto your roof, wherever you happen to be.

You come back from the trail sweaty or you’ve thrown yourself into the waves. Maybe you’re still half stuck in the muck because the day ended classically with recovery action again. Whatever your adventure looks like, at some point you all wish for the same thing: a warm shower. Not a tired trickle, but a jet like at home.

A simple idea well executed with clever details

With the Roadshower, Yakima relies on a simple but clever idea. The elongated aluminium tank is welded and black powder-coated. While you drive or the vehicle is parked, the sun heats the water. You fill the tank comfortably through the large opening and check the temperature via the supplied thermometer strip. Mobile showers often work on the gravity principle; with the Yakima Roadshower you add compressed air, either via a hand pump or your compressor. A safety valve reliably protects against overpressure and the maximum pressure is just under 5 bar.

Because the water is under pressure, it comes out of the hose in a strong jet. So you don’t just shower, you also rinse dishes, shoes or recovery tools. The Roadshower has water outlets at both ends, so you can mount it flexibly on either side of the vehicle. Included in delivery are a 140 centimetre hose, a shower head and SKS lock sets. The mounting hardware is made of stainless steel and fits all Yakima cross bars and most other roof racks. The Yakima Roadshower comes in three sizes: with 15, 26 and 28 litres.

A few technical details on the Yakima Roadshower 26 litres

The Roadshower Medium with 26 litres of water comes to around 38 kilograms total weight. The tank itself weighs 12 kilograms. Minimum cross bar spacing 24 centimetres, maximum 50 centimetres. Optionally there are FlexHead shower attachments in two lengths.

You can clean gear with the Roadshower too, thanks to the pressure.

Yakima, from a German tinkerer for bike parts to an outdoor brand

Yakima, it sounds Japanese, but it’s a place in Washington, USA. There the German tinkerer Otto Lagervall started developing and building bicycle accessories in 1972. The breakthrough came with the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, when, already under the Yakima brand name, he supplied all the bike racks for the competitions. You can read the eventful history of Yakima in our Yakima company profile.

Today Yakima is represented worldwide and supplies outdoor fans and off-roaders with high-quality accessories and gear. Roof racks, rack systems, roof tents and quite a bit more. A look into the world of Yakima is worth it: Yakima on the web.
