CB radio is dead! Long live CB radio! Up to now, no real alternative to CB radio has shown itself when it comes to group communication on the 4×4 trip. Quickly passing on important info to the vehicles behind, marshalling in the terrain or simply driving away the loneliness at the wheel, CB radio makes it possible for little money and without any training.
The impression could arise that nothing is happening any more with CB radio, but that’s wrong. New and smaller devices keep coming onto the market. Midland is now following up in its portfolio, the Midland M5 PRO.
Midland M5 PRO CB radio: compact radio power with one hand
The M5 PRO puts the next level of Albrecht-Midland’s extensive range into focus. The Black Box multi-standard CB radio with a multifunction microphone relies on ease of operation, a compact format and robustness. The dimensions are modest: 110 x 120 x 25 mm. Nevertheless, it has an easily readable display that provides clear information in any environment. The intuitive operation and ergonomic design of the on/off and volume controls allow effortless access with one hand – and that even with gloves. State-of-the-art audio technology with ANC (Automatic Noise Cancelling) makes interference-free conversations clearly understandable even in noisy situations.
Multifunction microphone
Via the microphone you can control all functions. In doing so, the Black Box multi-standard CB radio takes up hardly any space in the cab. It has a 1.85-inch FSTN display with backlighting, which you can set in seven colours to match your cockpit lighting. The multifunction microphone relies on intuitive operation: backlit microphone buttons make use easier on night drives. In addition, you can adjust many parameters directly on the display or via the microphone, which simplifies use even in hectic situations. The VOX function allows hands-free talking compliant with German road traffic regulations (StVO) and can be individually set in five levels.
As usual, plenty of sensible functions
Automatic Noise Cancelling (ANC) provides transparent communication even in rough environments. The dual-watch function allows you to monitor two channels at the same time without constantly switching. There’s a 10-level squelch and an automatic digital squelch with five levels, as well as RF gain, a PA function and an S-meter display in TX/RX. The multi-standard radio is equipped for any situation with emergency channels (9/19) and its ergonomic and robust design.
