With halogen main headlights in particular, every little bit of extra light is very welcome. But between the wish and the better light stands the fitting. To keep that as simple as possible, Scheinwerfer LUXX offers an LED high-beam set that’s very easy to connect and is road-legal in the process.
The Ford Ranger sits high and if it then only has halogen main headlights, a drive at night, especially in poor weather conditions or on bad tracks, can become a challenge. On top of that it’s a modern vehicle, with a plastic radiator grille and a plastic bumper, not the best conditions for fitting auxiliary high-beam lights.
Depending on the vehicle setup, the roof with a roof rack might be an option. Scheinwerfer LUXX explains why that’s not so ideal in this video:
As explained in this video, it makes more sense to position the auxiliary high beam below the bonnet edge. But with a vehicle of type M1 or N1 (car or light commercial), issues come up there that concern pedestrian protection and the sensors that may be present for safety systems. There can certainly be problems at the roadworthiness test.
The solution: STRANDS number-plate high-beam lights with the Scheinwerfer LUXX high-beam adapter
The STRANDS Nuuk E-Line Duo is a pair of strong high-beam lights integrated into a number-plate holder. By replacing the old number-plate holder, the two LED light bars also come into the best position for auxiliary high beam. And more than that, this pair of high-beam lights needs no separate wiring harness, as it’s integrated electronically into the light. The lights are simply clamped to the battery terminals and the light bars receive the on/off signal via the third cable.
This is where the Scheinwerfer LUXX high-beam adapter comes in. The adapter is plugged in between the halogen headlight and the vehicle’s connecting cable and simply connected to the switching cable of the STRANDS Nuuk E-Line Duo. It picks up the high-beam signal, so the auxiliary high beam is coupled to the vehicle’s high beam. The light bars come on with the vehicle and go off again too, just as the regulations require.

Very simple fitting
The fitting is very simple. The old number-plate holder is unscrewed, the STRANDS number-plate holder is screwed on. The connecting cable comes out on the left side, the same side on which the Ranger has its battery. The cable is then routed up past the radiator and connected to the terminal clamps. The Scheinwerfer LUXX adapter is best plugged in on the right side between the main headlight and the vehicle cable. You route the lights’ switching cable over the radiator to the right side and plug it together with the adapter. Done.
